The Massachusetts Wine Awards competition was the first of its kind sponsored by the MFWGA with the intent of recognizing the outstanding quality of wine made in Massachusetts. The 2019 panel of five judges was led by Michael Quinlan, Jr., wine buyer and Corporate Wine Sales Manger at Table & Vine. The UC Davis 20-point judging system, a wine industry standard, was used to judge each wine for clarity, color, aroma, texture and flavor.
